The Hardware Guy Tip Of The Month: When selecting a video graphics adapter card you should consider the same criteria as you would when selecting a new computer: what will be your main application or applications? For people who use only word processors, spreadsheets and casual web browsing, an inexpensive SVGA card with 4 megabytes of memory will be more than adequate. CAD and Graphics design applications will need an SVGA with 8 to 32 (or more megabytes!) of RAM, a fast RAMDAC, a video processing chip with a wide data path (128 bit or more). Gaming computers can benefit from any of the high performance video cards that are optimized for game graphics such as the Voodoo or 3DFX cards.
